About
The Friends Media Project
The Friends Media Project is a faith-based
Quaker organization, primarily serving the Religious Society of
Friends, but also other nonprofit organizations, small communities
and small businesses - such as independent media production firms,
with the objective of providing creative production services and
educational opportunities. The Friends Media Project seeks to become
a new-media publishing co-op and support network for people pursuing
or interested in faithful witness and storytelling through mass
media, Quaker outreach and/or preserving Quaker heritage in new
media forms.
The broad mission of the project is to serve God and humanity; contributing to a culture of peace by teaching communication skills and cultural preservation through new publication technologies, particularly about Quakerism and topics of interest to Friends. These materials will be created in formats intended to educate and serve a broad spectrum of organizations and communities well into the future. They would be distributed to interested public and cable broadcast companies and through catalog sales. Long-range goals include a retreat center toward these ends.
