About FMP
Faithful Witness is an online journal to support The Friends Media Project. The Friends Media Project is a faith-based Quaker organization, primarily serving the Religious Society of Friends. The broader mission of the project is to serve God and humanity, and contribute to a culture of peace, by teaching communication skills and cultural preservation through new publication technologies, particularly about Quakerism and topics of interest to Friends. The Friends Media Project seeks to become a new-media publishing co-op and support network for people pursuing or interested in a Quaker ministry through mass media, Quaker outreach and/or preserving Quaker heritage in new media forms.

A Public Witness Ministry
The first goal is to do a blog. I will provide new articles several times a year. Guest authors are warmly invited to send articles that are no more than 500-600 words long on any topic relating to a Quaker perspective of mass media or public ministry.

The Faithful Witness blog is a little different than most other blogs on the internet. Not only will the content here be a Friendly dialog addressing Quaker themes and ideas. Participants will be asked to consider the articles prayerfully and respond as in worship sharing. The idea is that this blog will be used in a way that lifts us up and enlightens us to different points of view in a positive way. Even when a response is a negative perspective, or in disagreement with the author or other comments, the hope is that there will be a friendly Spirit-led attitude in all the posts here.

A Service Ministry
The second objective of this ministry will be to provide web design services to Quaker groups free of charge so they can share their public ministry with up-to-date professional websites. Many of these will be done by me, but others who are willing to donate their services are invited to take up projects as they are so led. Toward that end a network of “Friendly” web artisans is being organized. Professional writers, photographers and other artisans whose services might be needed on such projects will also be sought to be put in direct contact with groups needing those services.
