How You Can Help
The Friends Media Project is looking for (f)Friends, who either through their profession, volunteer work or hobbies, have an interest in mass media communication: such as film makers, documentary producers, journalists and/or other creative workers in Print, Radio, Video, Film or Internet. If you would like to be a part of this group, can volunteer some of your time; or you just want to find out more, contact Dana Kester-McCabe about The Friends Media Project or do one of the following:

1. Request a speaker from FMP to come to your local Meeting and lead a discussion on the topic of "Quaker Witness In Mass Media Communication." Emailing: info@friendsmedia.org to find out about speakers fees and travel expenses.

2. Organize your own Friends Video Film Festival at your next Quaker gathering. The project can recommend videos and provide materials including discussion questions and recommended media lists.

3. Make a donation of any film, video or photographs you might have of Quaker events, worship, work projects or protests; of which you own the copyright to and are willing to allow the Friends Media Project to use for Quaker outreach or historical documentation. These need not be "professional" quality. Your imagery will always be credited. Contact Dana Kester-McCabe by emailing info@friendsmedia.org to find out how. Or mail your donation directly by post to:

4. Become a member. Make an annual donation of $25. As the organization grows this will provide benefits that are not yet available like product and service discounts and advance notification of work and retreat opportunities. Monies raised will support things like hosting costs for this website, grant application fees, converting film and photo prints to digital format and other expenses for FMP video and new media projects.

5. Volunteer your time:
  • Help find and apply for grant monies.
  • Recommend videos, films, music, literature or events for the FMP calendar.
  • Submit essays, poetry, photos, artwork or graphics for the Friends Media Project website on topics relevant to those witnessing through mass media. Email your submission to info@friendsmedia.org.

6. Let the Friends Media Project know (and in turn other interested folks) about job opportunities and projects you are working on either through a posting on the Faithful Witness Leadings page or the "News of Friends" section by emailing info@friendsmedia.org. Also make contact with producers of projects listed on the Leadings Page to volunteer or unite your efforts with theirs.

7. Email the Friends Media Project about services you can provide - or what job opportunities you are looking for to be listed in a Network Directory which will be distributed to FMP members.

8. Make a donation toward the Friends Media Project development fund. Your money will go toward basic operating costs until we begin the retreat and education center building phase of the project. Contact Dana Kester-McCabe about The Friends Media Project, by emailing info@friendsmedia.org to find out how. Or mail your donation directly by post to:

9. Include the Friends Media Project in your prayers. Spiritual support is greatly needed and appreciated. It isprobably what is needed most. You can also focus some of your prayers for individual projects that "speak to your condition."
