Pelagius
(c. 354.-c.420)
Pelagius was a monk who lived and preached in the British Isles. He was kicked out of the Catholic Church because he preached ideas that were closer to his Celtic ancestors. He believed that we are all born good and must choose freely to know God and live as good people. Catholics believe we are born sinners and that if we don’t choose to be part of the church we are against God. Pelagius’ ideas never died and some think they are part of the traditions of the ancestors of early Quakers.
